[ It's been over a month since she showed up in Luceti. A month of putting on her perfect good little face that Charles approved of and staying out of anyone's business as much as possible. The effort is tiring sometimes and she revels in the chance to close all her curtains and be herself for once. And after some thinking she opens up her journal to address things. ]

What do you do when you're tired of pretending for someone who isn't even around? I know I'm not the only freak here but how long to you bother hiding?

Hey, I know I kind of vanished for a while but. It was all a little too much to take in all at once. Can we have a face to face? [ She takes a deep breath. ] A real face to face. I'll put my cards on the table if you will.

Yeah and first day I was here someone knew what I was and made me feel pretty threatened. Sorry if I'm not leaping to show off.

... Actually, if you don't mind my asking, what exactly are you? I'm not exactly normal myself.

[ She groans, but she's at the end of her rope avoiding questions. ]

Isn't being a freak good enough? I'm a mutant.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with being a mutant. I thought I was one for a while. And my boyfriend is one. Everyone's a freak in their own way.

[ The part about thinking he was a mutant for a while has her wondering. Did he get better? ]

You're from the future, right? Where I come from the 'normal people' were willing to sacrifice us freaks to try and save their own lives.

It's still hard for mutants where I come from. But it does get better. I know mutants who are on public teams to save the world every day. There's a whole school dedicated to teaching mutants about their powers and keep them safe. And I know 'normal people' would get a lot of hell for sacrificing any of them.

The name is too broad to pin it on a face, so Teddy has to say that he can't recognize it. Much as it pains his nerdy self to let it go.]

[ She turns his name over in her head for a moment before she remembers where she heard it. Katniss mentioned someone named Teddy. ]

...Do you know Katniss?

Katniss? Yeah, she's one of my best friends.
